| The Alaska Watercolor SocietyMission Statement - The Alaska Watercolor Society was formed in 1974 as a not-for-profit organization to help promote the knowledge and understanding of professional watercolor painting in Alaska. The Society sponsors an annual juried watercolor exhibition that is open to all artists 18 years and older living in the United States. In addition, the Society sponsors watercolor workshops by nationally known artists such as Nita Engle (1985), Barbara Nechis (1986), William Gorman (1987), Tom Lynch (1988), Milford Zornes (1989), Jane Burnham (1990), Irving Shapiro (1992), Frank Webb (1993), Robert Wade (1994), Gerald Brommer (1995), Christopher Schink (1996), Katherine Chang Liu (1997), Carole Barnes (1998), Jean Grastorf (1999), Fran Larsen (2000), Mary Todd Beam (2001), Pat San Souci (2002), Paul C. Jackson (2003), Michael Schlicting (2004), Alvaro Castagnet (2005), Stephen Quiller (2006), Carrie Burns Brown (2007), and Carla O'Connor (2008).
